    Default Pitting on Blade

    Hi,

I took a look at some pitting on my s8 under magnification yesterday, and it shows rust in the pits.

I was wondering if there is a way to remove this without sanding out the pits, or is the rust in these too littloe to worry about?

Rust needs to be removed at all times. it's an oxidation process that will slowly eat up your steel.

Never use rust eating products on your razors like naval jelly. They mostly rely on some form of acid, be it phosphoric or oxalic, Do not use chlorine either. I've had a few razors send my way from owners that didn't know any better as to use any of the products mentioned.

Try with some maas polish first. A dremel will help and a buffing wheel too.

Steel wool and sandpaper are also used but will incur scratches. If you have a buffer you could easily buff those scratches out.

    Thank you Max,

So MAAS (or a metal polish equivelant) with a dremel and buffer wheel should remove the rust from the pits?
