I would recommend using the 4K side of your norton on the tip in a circular motion until the chip is gone and then re-establish the entire edge. Lynn

Thanx Bill, I enjoy your posts, too. After all, it was you who replyed first to my Junk to Funk post, with a very helpfull comments...

Hey, what can I say, I enjoy learning and teaching But, I would take anyone's advice with a grain of salt... I am writing only from my previous experience. Lynn suggested differnt aproach, which I am sure works, if not better than mine. One must choose what works best for him...

Bill, If you need any direct help for the CD, like pics, graphic or animations, tell me, I will be happy to do them

    have fun,
    Nenad

Well, I guess you have a choice to make.
    1. If you want to use the tip for shaving then follow Lynns advice.
    2. If you do not want to use the tip for shaving then follow Nenads advice.

    Thanks guys.

For this one I went with the slight rounding of the tip (ala the right picture). I have one of Randy's Hess razors, and it is incredibly sharp from heel to the point on the tip, which has got me in trouble a couple of times (no permanent marks though! ), and I have a another spike tip that is sharp at the point toe as well, though it is not quite as keen as Randy's, so I have a couple of good razors for working around the goat I always grow in the winter.

By the way, using the 4k/8k to get a good bevel, a couple barbers hones and my pasted paddle strop I have made that DD the most comfortable razor in my rotation at the momment. It is just the right sharpness and keeness that I feel safe with it, but it doesn't tug on my beard, and the lack of a point on the toe keeps me out of trouble. Still no way it is up to snuff with the pros, but I could shave with it forever and be satisfied, if only it would stay like it is right now.

Then again, that would be boring, and I don't think anyone who shaves with a straight is looking for a boring shave!
