Default Greetings and looking for advice on eBay razor

    Hi all-

My name's Mark and I've just registered. Love the site. I bought this razor on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Gratian-...QQcmdZViewItem

It looked to be an older one because of the shape of the blade, tang, monkey's tail and so forth. Can anyone tell me if it is, and what I should do to conserve/restore it? Thanks very much.

    -Mark

It is likely a razor from the 18th century .....

It might be early 1800's. Looks like a fair amount of grinding on it, but you should be able to hone it up and get it shavable. When cleaning it up, be careful not to put too much pressure on the sclaes/handle as these old ones can be fragile. Good Luck. Lynn
