Thoughts on Micarta
So I was doing some searching around on the masecraft website where several of you guys directed me for bone and horn, and I thought I would check out Micarta. I did a little research because I didn't know anything about it. As I am sure most of you know, it is basically layers of epoxy or resin soaked cloth. They sell it in Canvas and Linen, and I have seen silk.
This got me thinking. Would it be possible to make Denim Micarta? It is, after all, similar to canvas and linen, to the extent that it is cotton and can be used as a strop in place of the others. How great would it be to have scales made from a favorite old pair of jeans, or even to buy a cheap pair at walmart or something for the sole purpose of making scales. Seems like a true working mans razor to me.

Thanked: 51I believe some has made some out of denim. Look in the search for it. I saw it somewhere just not sure where.
