Glue in wedge or not?
Do you guys glue in the wedge before pinning or not?
I'm doing a 3 piece flat wedge (wood sandwiched between 2 thin pieces of metal) and I think the final shaping of the wedge pieces and pinning will be easier if I glue it together first.
What do you do and if you glue, what glue do you recommend to glue wood to metal?
Thanks.

if you are going to pin it you can glue too no problem. without pin just glue is a headache.

Thanked: 13246Info is here
Bruno, Max, & I put this together and compiled as much info as possible on Restoration in one place

And in there is this thread
http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...ned-wedge.html
I really would not recommend gluing the entire wedge to the scales as it limits flex, at the most just glue in one side... Now the liners to the wedge yes they need to be glued first... see the threadLast edited by gssixgun; 10-28-2009 at 04:19 PM.

Hey all,
Here are a few pics of my lined wedge I'm working on. It's my first. Still a work in progress. This is just after I shaped it. Still little more sanding to do and theres no finish on it yet.
Thanks to all that chimed in on this thread to help me out.
I'll post pics in the gallery when I'm totally done with this one.

Very nice JetHed - is that a wooden tang blank I see in the scales? If so, does that work well? I read the article about it but haven't cut any to use yet.

I have had these walnut scales for over a year and glued the wedge without a pin with waterproof wood glue. I have a nice diamond where the pin would go. They have held up so for with no problem.

It's just a piece of scrap wood that I drilled a hole in to make it stable while I shaped the wedge. I used little screws from Microfasteners to hold it in place. After I put on the finish I'll replace it with the blade (H. Boker Red Injun #301) and pin it. It worked great.
