Thanked: 1I also prefer the black scales, but one of them cracked in half when I unpinned it.
Next? Learn to use it.

Congrats on your first ~ nice job & yes old bakelite is notoriously brittle. They won't be the only set to frustrate you
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 1Honestly, I think the clear scales are a great way to learn. I got an 18 by 24 inch sheet for $15, so I can get almost as many tries as I need out of it. These are actually the second set I made, the first warped badly when I flame polished them (another first try) and I couldn't being them back.
I reply don't see what's so hard about the wedge. I had no issues with it at all. Although, I did manage to CA my finger to the scale once or twice.

Great job for your first Resto. Looks awesome!!
Be careful. It's an addictive hobby. I'm on my 4th, coincidentally a Boker as well.
