Thanked: 90Army & Navy
I'm not a str8 collector like most of the guys here. Untill recently,
I only had three, a new Fromm, new Dovo, and an old Wade & Butcher I
inhereted from my great uncle.
A couple of days ago, my wife bought me one from E-bay for about $6.
I wouldn't have bought it based on the pictures as it looked like the
edge had a bit of rust on it. But it wasn't as bad as it looked in
the photos. A bit of WD-40 on the blade and the edge didn't look so
bad. I made a roughing hone by streatching some 600 grit sand paper
over a piece of glass. A few passes over that and then on to a real
hone, now I'm starting to get an edge. It'll take some more work, but
I think this will be a good shaver.
I'm wondering if anyone knows any history on this maker and this
model. The handle is black celluloid (I think), the tang is marked
"German Imperial" and the blade is etched "ARMY & NAVY" and has a
picture of a horse mounted solder on the left and a solder holding an
American flag on the right.

The only Imperial razor I honed did turn out a great shaver.
You may find some info here.

I have the razor you are talking about. It is getting new scales done up and you will see oldblades post pics when he is done with them. Then it goes to gssixgun for a little "touch-up".
