    Default Hold down device

This is how I hold a razor in place when sanding the blade. I put a piece of double sided tape under the blade for security and lock it down and sand away with my sanding gun. Then I just flip it over to the other side and put a piece of double sided tape under it and go at it again. It is very secure method of holding the razor. Mack

    looks good.
I have a thin SS plate on my sanding jig this way I can sand at the edge and not eat the wood away.

Three moving parts if you do not count the paper thin wedge I use to tip the blade of some razors which will not lay completely flat.

    Mack,
Looks like it will work pretty good. Take a look at the one I sell in the Misc. section of the Classifieds. It holds the blade with magnets and has an aluminum plate, that the edge of the blade rides on, to absorb any heat produced by sanding. That will help eliminate the possibility of overheating the edge. You might be able to use that concept on your holder.

Well I learned a hard lesson. I put a thin piece of leather under the blade of the hold down device to protect the edge and it worked really well so I glued it into place.. A good idea except I went away for two days and left it in the clamp. The carbon steel had a reaction to what ever the chemicals were that were used to tan the leather. Probably an acid tanning process. The edge is rusty and will take some work to restore. Right on the very thin edge and about a sixteenth back from it. Mack
By the way, did I mention that it was my Boker !!!!
