Default Looking for tools? Craigslist is your friend!

Most of us should know well enough about Craigslist. Some hate it, some love it, most love & hate it at the same time.

But, the sad truth of the matter is, Craigslist is the place to go to find used power tools at a decent price. You will of course meet the occasional bastardo who screws you over and flakes out on you by selling a bandsaw and a drill press you had made plans on purchasing the next morning to somebody else... But... In the end it all works out. Life balances itself.

Example, after I was screwed over, I went back to my search and what did I find? A Craftsman 10" bandsaw, complete with cast iron stand, for $20. Yes, $20. It runs, its good quality and it made me happy

So, search the craigslist. You'll encounter the craigflakes, but the yummy sugary milk is still there once the flakes are gone!

Thats a GREAT idea, instead of looking in Sears I will surf the web and see who is in need of extra cash for the holidays!

    I like it.

Another reason to search the craigslist:

Yes, a Jet table saw. Not in new condition, just needs several bolts and a bit of paint, but hey, it was $150, i'm not complaining It also came with a rolling base. Overall value new is around $1000, got it for $150!

Apologies - I did not mean to offend anyone. In fact, I have no clue at all about Craigslist beyond what I have read about it here and in chat.

I humbly retract my previous attempt at humour.

Craigslist is great. You just need to be careful.

My most important piece of advice is never, never, NEVER invite someone into your home or agree to go to theirs to do the transaction. Most people are cool but there are wackos out there. Always meet in the most public place possible. I live in New York City and always meet CL people in Grand Central or a Barnes and Noble of sort.

That being said, I got an amazing deal on my Dremel from someone who got it as a gift and already had one.
