    Default Making a W&B Wedge

Ok I have been researching this but still have one question I am not too sure of, I will do my best to explain this. My concern is what determines the shape of the wedge? I understand the taper, I am referring to the shape of the wedge when it is laid flat on a surface. Am I supposed to mock up my razor how it will sit when it is seated, then have the straight edge of the wedge follow the general angle of the head of the blade? or does it even matter what angle the straight edge of the wedge is in comparison to the scales, as long as the head of the blade does not touch it?

    I hope this makes sense

I think gssixgun has posted a thread on that and/or it may be in the SRP Wiki restoration tutorial section. He will be along after awhile but you might take a look in the Wiki and find it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

With the razors that I have taken apart, the straight edge or thick interior part of the wedge runs perpendicular with the arc of the scales at that point. From what I understand, you want the blade to be able to clear the wedge by just a bit as it closes or opens, but you don't want to leave too large a gap between the end of the blade and the wedge.
Gssixgun really explains this very well in the restore stickies. It helped me a great deal to take the time to go through them a couple of times before I started.

    Hope this helps
    Good luck!!

What I did was, using a thin nail as a pivot in the razor and pin hole, scribed a pencil mark from the tip of the blade in an arc on the scales. Then I move the wedge a little further towards the wedge end.

Seems to work for me, not very scientific though!
