Thanked: 0Hairline Cracks in my W&B Blade
I just won this W&B on ebay, I hadn't noticed the 2 small cracks on near the heel of the blade (there's one more crack to the left just out of frame) when I bid on the lot. I'm restoring the scales right now and starting on the blade soon. I don't really want to modify the shape of the blade though...does anyone know of a good crack fix...eg welding maybe?
Thanks, gents

Thanked: 402Sad! But no, just honing it. There's no fix.
It can shave quite alright though. Depends a bit on the thickness of the blade.

looks like the chip and crack near the heel is going to be a real problem. Honing it down looks like you're going to lose an 1/8th of a inch. To make matters worse, if you look where that new edge is going to land and it's going to be right in the middle of that swiss cheese pitting above it.
That's a shame.
