    Default restore questions.

    hi everyone,

well I'm on my way... I think I've found a razor to restore..it hasn't arrived yet however.. when it does I'll take some pics to show everyone and get some ideas.

I have purchased pins and washers, small punches, small drill bits, sand paper of varying grits, and MAAS polish.. I've designed a sand paper holder so I don't sand off the tips of my fingers..

While I'm waiting for my razor to arrive though I wanted to see if their is anything else I need... It occurs to me that I don't have any polishing compounds and don't know much about them..

What are the best polishing compounds other than MAAS / Flitz Can someone help me with this?? I need to know which ones are needed and where is the best place to purchase some!!

    Tnx again everyone!

you need a ball peen hammer for pinning the razor. You can also use a spoon, but for ~10 bucks I'd go for a hammer. A good size to look for - 4 oz.
as far as compounds, I have only used CrO from widget supply.

For compounds you'll probably need buffing wheels. If you don't want to go that far yet, you should be fine with what you have there. Basic sandpaper is good for the scales, but wet & dry is needed for the blade. I often use it with oil, rather than water.
