Thanked: 14So here is the hone-wear problem on the spine that I noticed after starting to clean the Wade & Butcher up. It is very uneven as you can see. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I was going to tackle the hone-wear after fixing the edge.
1) Tape the wide parts of the hone-wear + tape the edge, and then hone down the narrow part of the honed spine (middle part) and try to get the hone-wear even?
2) Or leave the edge un-taped, but tape the spine as in the first suggestion?
3) Don't tape anything (spine or edge) and just hone until I get even hone-wear?
4) Don't worry about trying to get it even at all. Just fix the edge and hone it till it is shave ready and forget about the un-even hone-wear.
Not sure what to do. Add to that the hone-wear on the other side is much less, and the blade doesn't sit flat on the hones.
I guess whoever had it before Sapito found it, really didn't take care or it. I think I can fix it, just wanted some suggestions from the pros on here. Thanks in advance.

Too bad you have the larger chip at the heel. It is what it is though so you're stuck with it. If I wanted to try and get that blade working again I would hone the chips out as with the frown dealt with earlier. IOW, with the spine lifted off of the hone slightly.
Once the chips were dealt with tape on the spine until there was a decent bevel and then I would try removing the tape and doing Lynn's 45 degree heel leading circles to even the wear out between the spine & edge. If it was mine I might also shoot a PM to Lynn and ask him to take a look and get a second opinion.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
