Thanked: 9Torrey Razor Co. 5/8
Hi All,
Wife brought me home a Torrey Razor Co. 5/8" razor from an antique shop yesterday. It is in pretty good shape except a tiny bit of rust and a little bit of pitting on the blade. Will the rust and pitting come out when it is honed? or should I try and get it out myself with some sort of sand paper? I do not hone yet so will be sending it out for that.

You can try scrapping the rust off with a disposable single edge razor from hardware store used in box cutters and sticker scrappers. Not a utility knife. Then rub some metal polish like Maas, Fritz or the like. As long as it's not on the bevel you should be fine. If on the bevel there may be pitting under the rust that will need to be honed out. Pitting anywhere else only effects the appearance.
