Thanked: 7Restoring scales
Anyone on here have any links or advice for restoring/repairing various types of scales (wood, bone, bakelite, celluloid, horn, etc) with typical problems such as cracks, chips, breaks, crud, etc? I would rather fix the original scales rather than make new ones on the older razors. I have one very old wooden-scaled one that has a split in the wood straight up through the pivot pin.
I know I'm posting a lot today, but all of these problems seem to be hitting at once.
Thanks again!

Thanked: 13245Glue, and it doesn't really work on most of the materials
This is why you don't see how to do it, you can try a ton of different epoxies, CA's and fiberglass and honestly they don't really work all that well, they either are very visable, or don't hold up... I have seen some pretty nice work done with some of the old bug bitten horn scales and colored epoxy on here and I want to say Oz did it IIRC but other than that, I haven't seen/used anything that really works all that well..
