First time working with ivory

What a joy it is to work with Ivory. This particular elephant ivory was very dense (I would guess that is true for all ivory as well) which helped with such a great shine. I hope to be able to work with ivory more in the future.

I'm pretty satisfied with how they came out. Now... what lonely straight blade to put them on?

I love ivory.....
IMHO Ivory is the only way str8s should have white scales.

Your not a lawyer are you... haha
It's 100% pre-ban stuff for sure but I've had it for years, just never had the time/cajones to cut into it until today. I bought it from a really nice knife shop up in the smokies. They sure were proud of it.

I made my first ivory scales a few months ago and boy is it sweet to work with. Your scales look good & I hope you find a suitable blade for them soon...good luck!

I'm surprised you cut into it before having the blade thats going into them... it would be a shame if your dream blade didn't fit the way you wanted / or didn't fit aesthetically with the shape...

I guess it is a fairly classic shape, so you'll be safe... But,... I hope it works out lol.

i would think from the shape that they would really fit a razor

kidding aside save them till you find a favorite blade
and work with something replaceable first

Agreed! I have a few ideas in mind but definitely will be a favorite blade. Good call on working with something replaceable, I'll use 0 screws/nuts/washers to get a good feel for it before I peen it onto anything permanently.
