    Default Scale Maps?

So, I'm gathering the supplies to make my first ever set of scales.. They are going on the blade of a Gold Dollar 208 which is actually a remarkably good shaver with remarkably TERRIBLE scales. So, Here's my request for you fine gents and gentesses. I was wondering if anyone had PDF or MS paint or something like that, files that have a good outline of scales? Nothing too difficult, this is my first, but I don't want to do the standard rounded at both ends scales... I'm leaning towards something like TI scales (the ones that are pointed at both ends) But the ones that I have are on a blade.. so I can't trace them too well...

Does anyone have outlines of simple scales that they can email me? I am leaning towards TI shapes, but if it's simple and unique, that's great!

Ideas for scales welcome, but if you have an outline I could use to trace onto my acrylic, that would help.. I just can't get a good outline of my TI scales, and I love the double pointed look...

    Thanks guys! (And gals!)

If you still have the scales from the GD, trace the main part of the curve lightly in pencil then freehand the ends in pencil. Once you've got it ready, you can cut two copies - one for each side.

I do all of this on paper first, then cut it out and trace that form. For materials you can't write on, just tape the paper onto the material. This stuff ain't rocket science. If you know what you want it to look like, doodle 'til you get it.

That was actually my plan, Paul -the paper on the material-

My current hangup is that I like the TI scales appearance.. But outside of that, I don't know what I do want it to look like... So I came to the creative genius of SRP for advice..

Photocopier. If you find a particular pattern you like, you can copy it, shrink or enlarge it till it's right. I actually photocopy my blades and then draw my scale pattern on the paper...

Just as a suggestion......with other mock-up's I have done for other things...I have used corrigaged carboard and cut into shape.

I am pretty confident you can start out with a Cardboard blank (1-2 peices spray glued togeather) on each side of the blade, the "pin" it with twist ties. Then you can refine the way it looks by taking a sharp exacto and trim off the unwanted area. That way you can really play with a shape and get a real good Idea for what it will look like before you even make 1 cut on a scale material.

You can also use foam core board as well but cardboard is free...just ask for boxes at any big box chain store.

    That's just my $.02

    And have fun!!

    -Jeremy

Would these help? They're like TI scales but I made them more dynamic.

Just print it, glue it to blanks and cut it out. Illustrator for the win
