Thanked: 7Out Out Damn Spot!
I am looking to remove those frustrating blade specs (and sometimes splotches) from an otherwise shiny blade without abrading it badly or using other harsh methods. They don't seem to have texture, so they seem to be more stains than anything else. I could be wrong though....they could be almost microscopic inactive corrosion or pits.
Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to keep my blades original.
Thanks guys!

Thanked: 14What do you consider to be harsh methods?
As always, Pictures are worth much more than words to evaluate your situation... Also try typing "stains" into the search tool too
Blue staining on blade?
Black stains...

Thanked: 1936Typically any metal polish will take care of them (maas, flitz, etc.), just be careful if the blade has any gold etch on it, most polish will remove it as well.

+1 on the polish. I like Semichrome. For heavier grunge I've had good luck with 0000 wool with a bit of Break Free or some other lubricant.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
