Thread: Stopping and Honing in Albuquerque, NM

I just got my first steel straight edge razor and couldn't be more excited! I've been using a straight edge for years but they were all disposibles so I have never had the joy of putting a proper edge on my blades. Right now however I don't have the time to get a proper strop and stones to get my razor shave ready. I am looking for a trustworthy metal worker who has the proper tools and would be able to get it ready, so if anyone can make any recommendations I would be greatly appreciative! I live in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area so please let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Welcome to SRP Jer! You will find a ton of great information and a ton of great people here. I think you might want to post this in the newbie forum aswell as the hone forum. But I agree with you if there is a honemiester here in the ABQ area that would be awesome. Save on shipping in these tough times.

Welcome to SRP. I don't know if there is anyone local but if not here is the SRP classifieds 'member's services'. You'll find folks who do honing and restoration for a nominal fee. Also check out the SRP Wiki here for all you might want to know about straight razor shaving and if you can't find it there ask and someone will likely be able to help out.
