    A little lathe like the Sherline is just the ticket for turning tiny washers and fittings for (among other things) straight razors. I actually have a TAIG lathe. Same sort of beast, just a little funkier. Whichever you choose, a tiny lather like this makes a wonderful piece of kit for the workshop if you have the spare coins to afford it.

    I have an Atlas Craftsman metal lathe as well as a wood lathe and this little lathe I built from scratch. You can turn wood on a metal lathe too.
