Thread: restore.....

ok I`ve just got a razor from fleaBay, t`was only a cheap one as i plan to play with it to learn to restore/ maintain a razor.
The only real rust it around the pivot, the scales are of good quality. but the razor does have a smile to it. and some heavy hone wear at the toe. see the attached pics.

I`ve trawled through the forum and the wiki and have a plan in mins that i would like to run by you guys...

1)I`ll need to remove the scales to remove the rust,

2) remove the rust with some sandpaper, do i need to do anything else?

Do i need to "fix the smile give the excessive hone wear as it will just come back or can i hone it as it is?

I`ve been playing with the razor on a c12k hone for the last few hours and the blade does seem to be coming sharp again.

I would really like some advice about how to deal with the blade, there is no rust on the blade apart from one slight dent in the spine.
do i need to straighten the edge out or could it be left as it is?
