Thanked: 398Replacement scales..
Hey guys,
I have a question regarding replacement scales. I just recently messed up some scales for my razor and I'm looking at buying some cheap faux tortoise Thiers issard scales to replace them. I don't have all the restoration tool here and I'm wondering if I would be able to use the replacement scales and pins and do it myself ? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Thanked: 45There is no reason you will not be able to if you look in the wiki there is a whole section on it including tutorials.

+1 on pedro's advice. It is not all that challenging. Read the SRP wiki. In fact, if you wait a day or two there will also more than likely be some additional posts by expert restorers/rescalers here at SRP on this thread who can walk you through the process.

Thanked: 45i would assume so as all razors pivot holes are in diffrent places on tang. You can work out where to drill the hole using the old scales if you still have them.

Dups,
The TI scales do need to have the pivot pin hole drilled.
As I still very much a newbie to razor refurbishment, I use MicroBolts for the pivot pins.
However, these are a bit ugly, and not as pleasing as a properly done pinning job. They are however very, very functional.
At least I can use the newly scaled razor while I get my pinning skills up to speed
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

Thanked: 30The problem with universal size production scales is the fact that they do not always fit exactly the way you want them to. You might have to do some fabrication work. I suggest you ask the experts, Max and Glen on this one. They can guide you through the whole process.

Thanked: 13249I had a funny feeling that you were talking about your Livi..
I am about sure those TI scales will NOT fit I could be wrong as I have never actually tried it but I don't think so...
