Restoring a Swede
Today I was given this razor by an old friend from school.
He learned that I was into straights, so he went out in his garage to find his grandfathers old razor. He gave it to me, insisted on not taking any money for it.
It was a touching thing really, him digging around his garage and giving me this heirloom.
So, I have decided that I wanna restore this, if at all possible, and give it back to him in "shave ready" order.
Perhaps this could convince him into this wonderful hobby.
In addition to the attached images, here is a link to pictures on my web-site.

My hope is that some of you highly knowledgable and skilled people could check out the pictures and give your oppinion about it.
It has a really nice wooden box, with a rather fine strop on the back.
The thing that concerns me though is the size of it. It's just 7/16 of an inch.
Don't know if that is because it's been honed to death or what?
Thanks guys!Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

It looks like someone had narrowed the blade or then there really huge hone wear, but you can make a shaver of it as well. The blade, as narrow it might look, seems surely to be worth trying.
The box is really beautiful. use your precious time and skills to make this fine razor back to what is was meant to be.'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

it's a small helje to start with. quite likely you can fix it but i think it's better to find him a 5/8 one to try first.

It can be restored, just check or have the edge checked to make sure it aint corroded if it is to be a shaver. Great steel are those Swedes. I like the strop also - it would make a great travel strop as its small and you can store stuff in it 2.
