    Honestly I am not a big fan of offset washers myself, and have never used that fix...

    I either straighten the tang, or sand/file the scales to fit for the offset... You have to be careful here though, as fixing the scales doesn't always work out like planned when the tail starts hitting them too, like the GD's will...
    I always. always, use a 3rd pin on the big Friodurs, this pretty much eliminates the problem from the get...
