Aluminum & copper is typically considered too soft by most, especially at the pivot pin. Brass is the norm & what has been used for over 100 years. You can get 1/16" rod at Hobby Lobby & other hobby stores. Some have had success finding washers there too, but most of us have ordered ours from microfasteners.

I've bought brass rod and #0 washers at ace hardware, also bought a 5x10 inch sheet of aluminum by .008 and cut my own inner washers with a paper hole punch then used a metal scribe/punch to make a hole for the rod in the center. Not sure how the aluminum will hold up as a lot of the of the older inner washers were brass too.I have pulled one razor apart and found copper washers in there.Be sure and deburr your work, no since scratching your newly restored razor.

Like Shooter said, most shop at Microfasteners. I just received an order today. If you decide to buy hex bolts/nuts from them? Make sure you buy 2 of there special screwdrivers they really are handy. And for 1/16" brass rods, the best place to find them are at hobby shops that sell rc cars and planes. They usually have them in stock.
