A checkering file will cut the straight lines, but isn't really designed to cut hardened steely. You may get a razor done with it, but then your expensive file will be shot. I use a 30 lpi file for my razors (I have used a 20 lpi, but I agree that the 30 looks better). A while back, a guy posted a method he used where he used a cutting blade on Dremel, and used a jigsaw blade as a file guide. Just attach the jigsaw blade to the side of the tang (with tape, glue, etc.) and use it to guide the cutting blade on Dremel. Voila...evenly spaced lines, with little out of pocket expense.
