Default Help finding rods, pins, washers.

    Hi guys,

I saw the sticky post at the top of this forum, and went to the various stores to try to find pins, rods, and washers but I had a real hard time trying to find what I need.

I did my first restore with the dovo pins from classicshaving.com. They come with one side finished, you throw a collar on the other side and peen. I put on some brass washers that I cannibalized from a Thiers-Issard replacement scale package I'm not using just yet.

Could someone give me some pointers as to where on the sticky sites to find the washers, rods and collars? Share your bookmarks maybe?

    Thanks!

You can get the brass rods at any True Value Hardware store.. or most hobby stores in the Model train area. The #0 washers you can get at True Value as well or as Microfasteners.com.

Get the size #0 washers from Microfasteners

    These 3
    #0 Brass
    FWB0100#0.064 1/8 .017$ 3.80
    #0W Brass
    FWBW0100#0 wide.064 3/16 .017$ 4.40
    #0 Stainless Steel
    FWS00100#0$ 2.20
As pointed out the 1/16" Brass rod can be had at hardware store look for the K&S brass display

1/16" Nickel Silver and Brass rod can be ordered from TexasKnifesupply.com

For layup on your own scales use these

    HBB00121000-80 x 3/4$ 8.70 these have plenty of length...

HNB00801000-805/32 .046$ 4.10 if you order the scale size you need a special wrench to tighten them...but if you want to use them as actual pins then you need the scale size and the wrenches...

Thanks guys, I rewatched Undream's video where I remembered he mentioned the washers and only just now it clicked that the #0s are the collars, and the #0 wide are the inside washers. I was looking for what you guys were using for collars.

    Thanks for the links fellas.
