Thanked: 0Working scratches out of acrylic?
I have gone through a series of wet sanding progressions and it still looks like crap(the acrylic scales). Mostly surface scratches but once i have removed the scraatches i cannot get it to polish up and look good. Should I run the progression on a variable speed grinder with greasless compound and treat it like a razor. Thnax guys!!!

Thanked: 13249You have to use Micro-Mesh to get the glass like finish on Acrylics... You can do pretty good with an acrylic polish after a buffing wheel with plastic polish..
The two top ones are PlastX and Novus 1-2-3
I use the Micro-Mesh to 12,000 personally...followed by the Novus

Thanked: 324Use Flitz metal polish. It's an excellent polish for plastics, plexiglass, acrylics, etc. It'll bring them to a crystal finish once you have all the scratches removed and you can do it by hand rather easily.
Works As advertised.
Flitz Polish - Paste - One product, Many uses. Metal, Plastic, Fiberglass, Glass, Corian®...

+1.
I do wet/dry SP up to 2K using a lot of water, then I switch to high grit polishing cloths and do 1200, 4K, 6K, 8K. (I got mine through Metaliferous. They are bright blue, pink, green, and light green respectively.) Then I do Novus #3, then #2. (The Container Store has it.) IME if you don't use the higher grit cloths or sandpapers the Novus can't get all of the scratches out.
