Default New storage container 3 months later...

A bit more than 3 months ago I put this old jar to use to hopefully stop patina from forming on my razors in the shave den ( http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...shave-den.html ). I am happy to say there has been no spots since putting the jar to use. I guess anything with a decent seal and some desiccant beads for moisture removal would do the job.

That vintage jar looks really stylish and nice.
What do you use to remove the moisture from the razors and from the air inside the jar?
The idea seems to be working ok. Really nice piece of old thing put back to work.

While I run in terror at the thought of STOPPING patina, I must say that is a pretty cool container ... Now I have to dig around my old jars and see if I have some LOL!!!

I have several different sizes of those jars. Nice Idea now I just need to find or make a holder to fit inside. By the way where do you get the desiccant beads.

Silica gel desiccant beads usually are in packs inside boxes with electronics equipment or other items they don't want moisture to get into.(we just got another laptop and there were 3 packs of them with it). There is a web site where you can just purchase them. I think minimum order is 20 packs (I put 2 in my jar) but they can be used in the storage of other things you wish to keep moisture away from.

I did have to search for a jar that was the right height with an opening that the stand would fit down in. I can say it has done its job.

You can buy them at Home Depot as well... they are sold under the damnrid brand and come in quite a few sizes.

Hey guys, you are forgetting one of the easiest things to use...rice. I put my razors that don't fit in my case in a barbers barbacide jar. It already has the foot thingy attached to the lid. I actually do have rice in the bottom 1/4" & it sits in the window sill of my bathroom. Works like a champ!
