I have Southeast Asian ebony and Cocobolo with a wax coating.
I also have an unwaxed block of sycamore that I intend to use for decorative wedges.

You mentioned re-waxing the wood after sawing it to prevent splitting. If I were to apply some finish after each sawing and sanding session, would that be enough protection to prevent splitting the scales?
