Thanked: 202How to make new inlays?
Does somebody know how they used to make metal inlays on old razors. I am thinking to make my own from the scratch and this intiques me. Thank you for your advice.

Thanked: 74seems highly likely to me that they had a press or punch that they used to create the inlays. Those things are awfully thin, so it would be simple to punch out.
Of course, that is just what makes sense to me. Sometimes I am at odds with reality.

I'm not sure how they used to do it. However if you want to make your own inlays/overlays, that's simple enough.
you will want to start with some thin metal (bras or nickle are easiest) something along the lines of 24 guage or thinner. Use a jewelers saw to cut it out and some chasing tools to add in any details. Clean it up with some small files and sandpaper. Then apply it to the scale with some CA and finish it out.
I know that Brad (Undream) has done some of this kind of bolster work, you might want to drop him a pm, or check out some of his work.
hope this helps
