    Default Getting better at this

A few weeks back I posted a DD in pearl acrylic that I was unhappy with. The scales just didn't look right. This time, I think I'm getting the hang of it. This is my first time using micarta, ivory paper, in this case. I discovered just how HARD epoxy can be. Thinning out 1/4"+ takes some serious time when you're using a jointer. probably boogered up my blades while I was at it.

The blade showed signs of gold wash, and I did a little hunting around to have that re-done. I'm a trumpet player and like my mouthpieces gold plated. The guy who does that for me washed the tang for me for a song....

Oh yeah! That's what I'm talking about. Nice job on the scales, and I have to make friends with someone to do some gold wash for me as well.

    Love it.

That's the lighting. The tang is gold washed, not the blade.

    Love it.

If there is a GOOD music instrument repair shop around, they could do it. He warned me that it wouldn't last long, though. In order to get gold on steel, it has to be copper plated, then silver plated first.
