Thanked: 0Micarta
Hey guys,
Been reading these forums for some time now and all I keep hearing is Micarta this, Micarta that. What exactly are Micarta scales made of and why are they so popular? Judging from the pics, it does look very nice. Sorry if it's been asked before...if you could shed some light on this...

Thanked: 1371Like most things straight razor, it's in the wiki: Making Micarta scale material - Straight Razor Place Wiki
You can buy micarta made of different materials as well. But, that wiki article does a great job of explaining what it is, and how you can make your own.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I made some once only, the advantage of DIY stuff is the custom look you can get. It's a straight forward enough process and mine came out pretty good. I'm lead to believe the factory stuff may polish better but there are tricks to get a good result polishing the home made variety.
