Warped blade
Ok...I purchased a razor on ebay because I really liked the scales on it. But the blade is supposed to be a bit warped. I've never done any restoration but I'd like to fix this so I'd be able to use it.
Italian razor This is the one I was talking about.
Does anyone have any experience in repairing a warped blade?

Thanked: 2209Sorry to tell you this but that blade is toast. Blue means the temper has been drawn( that means the steel is now soft and will not hold an edge) and if the blade is warped then there is no method of getting it back to straight without going thru a lot of work and expense..

That's ok. I'll just try and put a blade from a razor with an ugly handle on it then. Anyone have any handy tips for that?

Not worth the effort
Greetings…
I’m not a bladesmith but my guess is that for a blade to be bent like that, the temper was ruined at some point in the blade’s history.
I suppose if you wanted to, you could have blade annealed, straightened, and retempered. This would not be for the faint of heart or shallow of pockets. Highly impractical. File it under ‘you can’t polish a turd.’
Save the scales for a worthy blade.
Of course, I could be wrong….

Thanked: 1As Randy said, the blade is toast... and it always will be. The temper is gone and you couldn't get it back no matter what. It's too thin now to reheat to the temps needed to harden it. You think it's warped now, reheating will make it look like an eel fin.
Don't know if I can be of much help on new scales or anything. Some guy here has a cd that covers all of that. Wait on it, though, because I heard there is an update coming in August.
The info you want is also in the forums already. Use the search function, I'm sure you will run across it.

Ouch
The first blade I tried to shave with was in just this shape. Trust me you don't want to try it. The shave was NOT close and the pull was a ß!+¢π.

Unless the warp is unnoticeable, you wouldn't be able to sharpen it anyhow.
