Thread: Where to buy "cracked ice" acrylic?

Just wondering if there's anywhere to buy cracked ice patterned acrylic, like the kind used on Dubl Duck scales. I've tried all the usual places and the closest I've come ate light panels called cracked ice but they are a totally different look. I want the pearl look. Don't care if it's slabs or sheets.

I found this link for ya, but unfortunately you'd have to order at least 1 ton of it from the supplier! I don't think you want to make that many scales.

Check places like Woodcraft and Wood turners catalog they should have it for making pens out of and may have what they call a jumbo pen blank which should be big enough for razor scales.

You can also try Masecraft Supply for knife making supplies, inlay materials, pool cue and pen making supplies. or another knife making supplier.

Thanks troggie I forgot about knife making supplies because my background of experience is from pens and bottle stoppers. I knew someone wold ad more info I'll have to bookmark that link for future reference.

You live in a big city and big cities have plastics retailers.

A couple of months ago, I went on a road trip to Hamilton and stopped by a plastic retailer just like this one. Instead of cutting, I just asked them to sell me any leftover small sheets they had. A blue acrylic and a red acrylic both approx 18" x 30" for $10 each.


Some of these online guys will nail you that for 2 pieces of 1"x6"


PLUS!!!! You can choose from a full rainbow of colours, opaque and transluscent.

Yeah I've bought tons of stuff from plastic world in downsview but they don't have this. I've hit most of the plastic places in the GTA this month and got great stuff for great prices, but I can't find this anywhere including online pen, knife or whatever making suppliers.
