Where to find button head bolts?
I have seen some new razors (Hart, and some customs) that look like they have a male end button head bolt that goes into a female end button head bolt. Does anyone know where I can buy these, and is that the correct name? They appear to be similar to a Chicago screw, but with allen heads and no opening on the backside of the female end. As always thanks for the help!

Thanked: 16I'm looking for the same bolts. I'm going to call Microfasteners this morning and ask them. They're not in their on line catalog, but it might be a non catalog item. If they don't have them, they might know of a source, Making attractive pins is something I'm still trying to learn and the learning curve is really steep. I think bolts/machine screws can be made to look as good as a well peened pin.

L R Harner,
Your razors were what I was looking at this morning and were the ones I referenced to in my original post as the "customs". Very nice work by the way! Thanks for the link I'm sure I can find something that will work. I think what I'm looking for is the Pivot 1/8" x 3/8" Barrel. I think I might have to drill the pivot hole out a little to get that to fit. Thanks

Thanked: 16I just got of the 'phone with the owner of Microfasteners (microfacteners.com) He is very helpful, and he knows what razor restorers need. He said most restorers use 0-80 brass machine screws and bolts with the corresponding size washers. (He said the thread diameter is around .060, which he assured me will work.) I ordered a supply of nuts and bolts. If this order is anything like my washer order, I'll get it in the middle of next week. Also, I ordered a special tool (2) for tightening the nuts and bolts.
I asked about button head screws (which appears to be what Hart razoe uses. They don't come in brass, but they are available in stainless steel. The longest size 0-80 listed in the catalog is 3/8" which probably is too short (in my opinion). He can get 1/2" and 3/4" from his supplier, and have them drop shipped to his customer, directly from the supplier. I'm not sure 1/2" will be long enough for some of my bigger razors, so I ordered 3/4" which will be way too long, I figure I can grind off the excess length.
I (1) hope this helps the peening challenged wanna' be restorers like me, and (2) isn't deemed to be too much of a sacrilege by you pros.
