Thanked: 13249Yes David that is very close to the design I was thinking but all the way up to the shoulder instead of halfway...
I think I might make a set of western style scales for it tonight like my King Pelican has before I commit to the Japanese style...
After thinning up the whole tang it has a much better feel to it now, plus I kinda want to try the shave too..
Sorta like this one...

Thanked: 13249A different direction...
This one is sorta taking a differnt direction now, sometimes projetcs take on a life of their own...
I had a piece of Thuya Burl leftover from another project but it was a short piece that was useless for a standard razor, because you need about a 6 inch piece for normal scales and I didn't have that ...
So given a short Kamisori style razor I can use this wood now
A little more work with the Dremel and the Buffers and I have smoothed up the look somewhat on the razor.. The tang has been thinned up way more, and evened up so the razor is now straight... Some pits still remain, but I still have enough steel thickness for one more run at the buffers with the greaseless compounds, so I might try and get it a bit smoother...
The scales are done and mocked up with the Amber wedge I used, I am planning on a CA finish for these... Havent decided on pins and washers or even if there will be a 3rd pin yet...

oh wow! that looks very nice.. i'd really like to see some shine on those scales.. and i'm thinking this would be a great razor to shave places other than the face with.
