Default Need some advice on pinning

I have re-pinned about 6 razors now and it seems like everyone of them is off center. I have read the wiki and watched quite a few videos on how to re-pin but I still must be doing something wrong! Should I pin with the blade open or closed? I read somewhere that you should only hit the rod as hard as you would your own thumbnail, is this correct? I use a 4 oz. hammer for reference. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you

4oz hammer is the preferred one by most people.
I peen with the blade closed, and I apply very little force.
as far as blades off center , it could be the tangs are not straight, the scales are slightly warped, or you apply too much force on the tap thus bending the pin.

Hold the razor up in front of you, point the tail right at your nose...

If the scales are not level with each other or the pin is crooked then you are at fault...Now turn the razor around and look straight at the wedge and the pin there.... same thing applies...
If everything is nice and straight with the scales and the pins, but the razor still hits, then the tang, the razor or the scales are at fault...

    Some fun Huh???
