Thread: To Bread Knife or not to Bread Knife

It can be done successfully sometimes. I bought a 7 day set of Kobar razors off of the bay some time ago. One of the 7 had a crack running up the edge in the same area as the OP's razor. I did do the breadknife on a diamond plate and then sharpened it with the spine off of the plate initially.

Followed that, as Glen suggested above, with 3 layers of tape, then 2 then one and finally none. I was fortunate and the crack didn't run and there is enough blade left to have good temper. I probably wouldn't have done it had it not been part of the 7 day set. I ended up with one 5/8 in the set of 6/8s.
