Fancy Washers
I really hate to ask you guys this but I need some fancy washers and my man Babur from Germany has sort of disappeared. I've been using the Microfastener screws tightened with small nut then fitting a nicer washer over the nut and peeing the screw. It works out great!! But I am out of nice washers and need a source. I would really appreciate a PM from a kind soul. Or if someone wants to sell me some, that works too. I tried making some but you need the right equipment to really do it well.
Thanks!!!!

okay... so I am not getting any bites on the washer request.
Has anyone out there used sex bolts or chicago bolts/screws for the pivot pins? I am on a quest to find a new way to do my pins. The button screws look nice but cannot find a way to match the heads on both sides. Any suggestions?

Thanked: 3164Sex bolts? sounds a bit kinky, Zomax! Seriously though you could try mosaic pins (some are fragile, though). The one's I linked to might not be suitable, but I'm sure if you google 'mosaic pins' with 'knife making supplies' you'll find something.
Regards,
Neil

What about buying bead caps? They are fancy metal things that go on either side of a bead to encapsulate it and make it look fancy. You could get some from a place like Fire Mountain Gem. They are relatively cheap. They will need to be flattened carefully.

Also solid brass beads. These may not be your liking, but I like these and I used them here and here:
for stars ebay has here:
brass floret spacer beads
and when cut these in half are nice for smaller washers
fancy raw brass spacers
Find an interesting shape. Bend a piece of rod L shape to hold in place as you sand it down on the belt sander, fine tuning with hand sanding. It goes plenty quick.
You can also get sterling silver beads, although in my findings, brass is solid and sliver often is hollow. Also watch out if what you find is plated.Last edited by dirtychrome; 09-13-2010 at 03:45 AM.
