Thanked: 0Question about wax finishes
Going to the local hardware stores I've seen several types of wax finish. Everything from "wax" paste to wax mixed with orange oil. So the question is, what is your favorite/most used wax finish?

I don't use mixed waxes. If im finishing with just wax it is carnauba for turnings or newer looking items or bee's wax for atlatls, bows, spears and the such.
I use paste wax for the ways on my lathe and tables on my tools.

Typically waxes are put on over an oil finish, although a hard wax like pure carnauba can be buffed on alone.

Thanked: 13249Not sure here if you are asking what wax to use on top of a "finish" or if you are asking if a wax and oil mixture can be used "as the finish"... Also we are talking about for razor scales I am assuming?????

Thanked: 13249On top of the finish I use only Renaissance Wax now.. it is rather expensive but it goes a long long way...
Before using that, I used plain old Johnson Paste wax in the big yellow can.
