    Default Razor box cleanup?

I got an old razor box for a razor I posted about in this thread and JimmyHAD suggested the scales might have been older than the blade itself. I went to put the razor away in it's box and took a closer look at it. It appears it is older than the knife indeed - the blade is VR (Victoria) but the box, albeit a sheffiels razor box, says WR. If my memory serves me that should be from William, dating it from 1830 to 1837.

Anyways, I'm rambling. The question at hand: how to preserve the box? I'm guessing it is leather? Very hard and sturdy, some spots have color worn off. Box is a dual razor box as well, incidentially. Leave well alone, or what?

Very hard to make out the maker's imprint, from what I can see it is D&G...LV&Co, W crown R, SHEFFIELD.

    Default

I've bought several back to life with black shoe polish (not the liquid type.)
