around the pivot
can some one help me with with this please
I have been purchasing some straights from E-bay nearly all need a clean ,a couple need to be thrown in the bin but for those that dont I have found the hardest place to clean is around the pivot pin area
For the blade i use wet and dry like every one else , but not wanting to remove the scales how do you get in there to clean and what products do you use
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated
Kind regards Peter
PS.. I just recieved another two today in the post andhave 5 more coming

Or cut a thin strip of cloth and soak it with some antibacterial cleaner. An old sock is ideal for that (Brian has it in one of his videos).

When you say "clean" do you mean "sanitize", or do you mean "remove rust/corrosion"? The suggestions given so far are good for getting a sanitizing agent into the pivot area, removing soap film, etc. Rust and corrosion is another matter.

Thanked: 0I sometimes use kerosine to dissolve all the soap, grease and dirt. So far this have worked fine. I just dip the razor in kerosine, open and close the razor until I am satisfied.
No matter what, I really hate to clean that part.Last edited by Abscissa; 05-30-2006 at 04:35 PM.
