Default Surface rust on a sharp edge

I've just bought a shave-ready restored Wester Bros razor. It had black spots, but no visible active rust and no pitting on the edge. Very sharp, smooth shave.

After using it a few days, some active surface rust appeared on the edge. I was surprised, since my usual routing has kept my unused Dovo blemish-free: air-drying followed by alcohol followed by air-drying, and I keep them on my dresser in the bedroom).

Any way I might deal with the rust without having to hone it from the low grits? At least as a first-try? I'd hate to go to square one on a razor I just bought shave-ready.

I think those blace spots are indications of very minor oxidization. It does corrode the metal somewhat. If you're not stropping after the shave to absolutly clean all the gunk off the edge, any residue will make it worse. I think this is what is hapening for you. A light honing should eradicate the problem.
