Back in the old days tattoo stencils were made of celluloid. More than one shop burnt down as a result of a bucket of stencils going up in spontaneous combustion. At least I've been told that. Not sure if it is true. I do know that the stuff is highly flammable.

Russ mentioned RIG (rust inhibiting grease) that is the greatest stuff. I've been using that on guns, pocket knives and razors for forty years. Unfortunately I don't think it is made anymore. Glad I bought a large quantity when I could.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I probably shouldn't recommend it, but it WAS instructive. You definitely don't want to smoke around these scales. Or rub them together fast, or maybe even look at them funny.
