Default Restore problem - bleamished blade

I'm new to straight shaving and very new to restores (Im not much for DIY) I puchased a 'Shaving Set' (to obtain another strop, paste and stone) which came with a thiers-issard 69 garanti razor.

Despite unsual blade I intended/intend to use this.

Only problem is when I disinfected - the Bleach part - it caused rust (think termed oxidisation?) either way the once silver razor is now silver but now has loads of small pits/bubbles etc

Have I destroyed this? Will this affect the razors performance? (have I really knackered it?!) any comments (or abuse given my real ignorance) would be appreciated!

P.S I have tried Super Fine 0000 Grade Wire Wool!

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but from what I can see you got a lot of rust on the edge. The only way to know if it's salvageable is to get the rust off and give it a honing. If it was shave ready before, it's not anymore.

I hope you learned your lesson about using bleach.

    Oh, and welcome to SRP!

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

    Default Polish

Maybe you should try to give it a bit of hand polishing with some turtle wax or something like that? it would be to bad to scratch up the whole blade with some sandpaper..

Maybe you can dull it down a little bit and hone its up later? its a shame such a beautiful razor would now be used.

razor is beautiful - box its almost mint condition too!

I've just tried 'Brasso' and it now shines but the blemishes still remain

but think youve got the best idea - guess I will use the stone and put a new edge on it and re-polish! may take some time but I WILL use it! still lesson learned and hopefully no lasting problems...
