Default The Straight Razor Repair kits on ebay

Are they any good. It seems them would come with all of the materials needed to rescales. The set sells for $60.

    The kit comes with:

    Rods/washers
    empty scales
    hammer
    pliers
    other stuff.

I was considering it because I don't have any of the items needed to rescales. I'm sure the stuff in the set isn't the best quality.

Is it a decent starter kit? Anyone make the plunge?

I haven't seen the set, but:

    $9-18 for Anvil
$9 for a 4 ounce ball peen hammer
    $20 for flush cut pliers
    $7-20 for Needlenose pliers
pin stock and washers are relatively inexpensive.
Factor in shipping and it certainly could be a good value

    What's in the set?

If you bought 60$s worth of supplies you'd have enough to do a several razors.

I think it cost me 15$ for 2 brass rods and 1 nickel silver one. about 10 bucks for 100 washers and 100 wide washers. 5$ fir my side cutters. I peen on a brass block I found and the hammers are fairly cheap. TO me 60$ is a lot for what you get.

on edit: ive never needed any pliers other than the flush cut. I use them as regular pliers to pull and twist pliers. Walmart has tehm for 5$.

edit my edit empty scales?? If it comes with a set of scales it may be worth it.

These prices would be for pretty decent quality stuff. I think I've seen the set you're talking about, and if I remember correctly, it was mostly low grade tools. My crappy flush cutters broke and scratched my scales after just a few uses. I would purchase separately if I were you.
