    Default scale makers?

I wanted to say that the level of creativity in some of the custom work I see around here is amazing. I am curious as how you guys that do it make your custom scales. If its a trade secret or whatever no problem... I am just a curious sort and was trying to figure out what tools you use to do this? It (never) ceases to amaze me.

I suppose it all depends on the type of scales you are trying to make. I suppose with a bit of time and some files and sandpaper, you could make a decent pair of scales.

I have a table saw, band saw, jig saw, drill press, belt sander, disc sander, grinder, disc grinder, rotary polisher, rotary tool (dremel type) and a few lathes. hand tools? files, rasps, hammer, coping or jewellers saw, drill, anvil, vices, sand paper, sand paper, sand paper and more.

You can probably get away with a small hand saw, files, sand paper and a lotta time. I think the band or jig saw, drill press, sander and rotary tool help out the most when it comes to scales.

Plus the usual time, patience, time and patience.

Bill has a blog detailing the construction of a pair of scales along with a video, though an updated version is due out soon.

I manage to get by with very basic tools. A jig saw, dremel, sandpaper and lots of elbow grease.
