Thanked: 8JL's Scales
I have promised I'll make JL a set of scales as a belated wedding present. He is going to get a big 8/8 Friodur or Henckels but wants wooden scales. So I suggested he saves some dosh by getting plain plastic scales and I'll fit some wooden ones for him.
Well JL if you see this here they are. Cocobolo and yellowheart with brass liners.

Thanked: 8Good on yer Tom,
I love experimenting with scales, some have hit the trash can but these are less frequent now.

Gary,
Those are quite beautiful scales. I really like how the yellow liners are set off by the yellowheart. A unique design and very cool.

Thanked: 8BUGGER IT !
A final polish of wax on the beauties and a faint cracking noise. What the....f
Tried just a little tension, crack again....
The butted joints cracking...oh s@#t...
Totally FUBAR.. Sorry JL, back to the drawing board.
One join OK, two...nope...Not only are the scales stuffed but what a waste of nice wood.
You live and learn in this world from experience. You can read as many manuals and watch as many videos as you like but this hands on stuff is the real tester.
I feel like crap right now. JL will be pissed but I can make some more for him, just different stuff so I'll have to get back to my work bench.
They looked great but in reality were technically garbage. So guys, take all your praise back. You were only correct in the fact that they looked great.
To Bill and Vlad I remain your humble servant....grovel......grovel....where's that bottom rung again...
