Jackpot! Should I restore?
I just recieved three straight razors that belonged to my great grandfather who owned a barber shop in Bonham Texas.
I currently use DE's but am wanting to try straights and would love to be able to use something that has been in the family so long. Are these worth the cost of restoration or should I leave as is?
Any advice and info is greatly appreciated. More pics are available if they would help.

I would probably just use metal polish and hone them. look in pretty good shape to me.

IF you want to restore them beyond using metal polish, in other words, if you want to use any sandpaper or any kind of power tool, then don't do it for the first time on your family heirlooms. Please practice on something of less sentimental and monetary value.

One quick thing you can do with the Dubl Duck is to clean the clear scales with Nevr-Dull.

Nobody has been explicit about this yet:
. . . the Filarmonica and Dubl Duck are "premium brands",
. . . not run-of-the-mill shavers.
You have quite a find! IMHO, the less you do to them, the happier you'll be.

Thanks for all of the great replies fellas.
I'm still undecided as to exactly what to do with them. I would like to get at least two of them looking a bit prettier (and be shaving sharp) but I guess I'm not really sure what a professional restoration entails. Do you have to completely replace the scales or can they be saved? I would really like to maintain the original look of the razors. Does anyone on the boards specialize in these brands?
